The Bronx district attorney’s office says David Johnson, a former top aide to Governor David Paterson, has turned himself into authorities this morning to face charges in connection with an alleged assault.
Johnson arrived at the Bronx district attorney’s office just before 9:30 a.m.
He’s expected to be arraigned later today.
Johnson was at the center of a domestic violence scandal that led to Paterson deciding not to seek election.
A special investigation released earlier this month by former Justice Judith Kaye found that the governor did not break any laws when he spoke to Sherr-Una Booker, the alleged victim, but that he exhibited poor judgment.
Johnson is accused of choking Booker in October of last year.
The case was initially handled in Family Court but charges were dropped after Booker did not appear in court for a hearing.
