This Tuesday, August 10th, thousands of Religious Jews will gather outside the offices of RFR Realty to express outrage at the company’s refusal to stop destroying ancient Jewish graves in historical Jaffa, Israel.
RFR Realty is building a luxury hotel on the grounds of an ancient graveyard. Proposals have been suggested that would allow the construction to continue while preserve the ancient burial grounds. Although the Israeli partner in the construction is open to methods of preserving the graves, RFR has refused to consider any of the proposals and refuses to meet with organizations involved in preserving ancient burial grounds, sparking outrage and condemnation from Jews worldwide.
The demonstrators will have one message for RFR and its owner Aby Rosen: “Preserve the ancient graves!”
The protest is being organized by The Central Rabbinical Congress of The United States & Canada, an organization representing hundreds of thousands of religious Jews, as well as many rabbis and congregations in North America.
The demonstration will feature speakers on the topic of preserving the gravesite, as well as a speaker from Israel who will give a first-hand account of the issue. A slide show with images of the ancient bodies being desecrated will be shown at the protest.
Jews worldwide have held protests to express their outrage at the destruction of graves belonging to ancient ancestors.
The event will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 4:30PM, in front of The Seagram Building; 375 Park Ave. (bet. 52 & 53).

The last thing Israel needs today is protests by Jews against it. Or would the protesters prefer being ruled by Hamas?
A slide show with images of the ancient bodies being desecrated will be shown at the protest.
And where may I ask are there images of the ANCIENT BODIES to be shown? Thought it was bones not the slides are of BODIES, should be R rated to watch.
# 2: I don’t get why digging k’vorim has become a complete joke to you. Maybe I’m just slow.
To #1 – are you sure you are posting to the right article? There is no protest against “Israel” by Jews, this is a protest by frum yidden against desecration of graves by a private company. (Of course, if the Israeli government actively aids them and violently puts down the legitimate protests of frum yidden, that also deserves a protest, but that is not mentioned at all in this article.)
To #2 – Go to the protest and see them yourself, then criticize it. (Rated R? What are you talking about? And since when are bones not major body parts?)
It greatly angers me when Jews publicly protest against other Jews. But in these cases where they dig up kevorim, I can’t help but think – what if someone in the US wanted to build a hotel on top of an old cemetery somewhere. People would go crazy and it would never happen! Court petitions would be filed, the media would be all over it, and the builders would never be allowed to dig up the graves. I must say, regrettably, that I’m on the side of the protesters on this one.
