The Throgs Neck Bridge was closed to all traffic for much of the morning commute due to a suspicious vehicle parked underneath it.
Police closed the bridge at about 6 a.m. Thursday, just as rush hour began to get underway. The suspicious unoccupied dark-colored SUV appeared to have its headlights on and was parked on Willets Point Blvd.
By 7:30 a.m., the vehicle was removed and traffic in both directions was reopened. No explosive devices were found in the vehicle.
There are residual delays on the Throgs Neck Bridge, and commuters are asked to seek alternate routes, like the Whitestone Bridge and Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.
The NYPD Bomb Squad as well as the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center responded to the scene.
