President Barack Obama is coming to the city today and, as is always the case, traffic is likely to follow.
The president’s first stop will be a sandwich shop in New Jersey to promote a lending initiative for small businesses.
Then he heads into the city, where he’ll tape an interview set to air tomorrow on the “The View.” It will be the first time a sitting United States president has been a guest on a daytime talk show.
Obama wraps up his visit with a pair of fundraisers for the Democratic National Committee.
His stops in the city will take him through Lower Manhattan and Midtown.
Expect delays and rolling street closures and frozen zones throughout the afternoon and evening.
The MTA warns many local and express bus routes in the area will either be delayed or detoured between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Some subway station entrances and exits may also be closed sporadically.
If you think your route might be affected, you are advised to check out mta.info for more information.
Gridlock Sam from the NY Daily News reports the following closures:
The President will land at Newark Airport around 1 p.m. Wednesday, then helicopter to Edison (off the NJ Turnpike around Exit 10 and near I-287). Freezes on all local roads are possible till he choppers across the Hudson to Wall St. in lower Manhattan around 3:30 p.m. to tape an interview and attend two fund-raisers.
His first NYC stop is the upper West Side in the 60s and West End Ave. to pretape an interview on “The View.” The FDR Drive will be frozen in both directions below 71st St. along with all avenues from First Ave. to West End Ave.
Afterwards, he’ll come down Park Ave. to attend a fund-raiser at the Four Seasons on 57th St. and Park Ave. around 5:30 p.m. Park Ave. and 57th St. will be frozen in all directions.
Finally, he’ll hop back on FDR Drive to attend a fund-raiser at a private residence in the West Village. Avoid the area between W. Third St. and Houston St. from LaGuardia Place to Sixth Ave. Then it’s back to the heliport for the chopper ride back to Air Force One at Newark Airport around 8:30 p.m., which means another freeze on the FDR Drive in both directions below 14th St. I strongly urge readers to consider mass transit with the President in the Big Apple for a solid five hours.

Want him out of the way??? Tell him he has a Tee Time at some far out golf course!!
Ronald Regan was a movie star and obama acts as if he is one. Going on the View is totally ridiculous. Most of the panel is leftist and will give him a time to ham it up
Go meet Hannity or Glen Beck and lets see who speaks better.Teaching kids to sing his praises all because he has nothing to sell but himself..
