Manhattan prosecutors made their best offer to the accused teenaged Starbucks bomber today: a grande three-and-a-half years behind bars if he pleads guilty to the 2009 Upper East Side blast.
Kyle Shaw, 18, didn’t hurt anyone when he allegedly lit the fuse to a plastic container stuffed with fireworks powder outside the East 92nd St. java joint at 3 a.m. on Memorial Day last summer.
But the explosion shattered the store’s two plate glass windows and blew a hole in a sidewalk bench, cops say.
And prosecutor Christopher Ryan has said in court that Shaw was caught on audio tape saying he wanted to “detonate one more device” before last summer was over.
Shaw was told by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon to either take a plea deal by his next court date, Sept. 7, or a trial date will be set at that time.
If he does go to trial, the teen faces up to life in prison if convicted of the top charged currently against him: first degree arson.
