The fierce thunderstorm that rolled through New York City and prompted a tornado warning Friday night was nearly fatal for one Brooklyn man.
Fire officials said the 54-year-old was hit by lightning while taking cover beneath a tree in the borough’s Crown Heights section.
The strike left the man unconscious on a street divider.
Officials said a bystander began CPR. Medics who arrived a few minutes later were able to restore the victim’s heartbeat.
The storm blew through the city between 8:30 and 9 p.m.
