Cops have nabbed the so-called Bouquet Bandit, putting an end to his profitable – and colorful – robbery spree, police sources said
Edward Pemberton was arrested at a relative’s house in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, days after cops said he robbed a pair of Chelsea banks while carrying flowers as props.
Pemberton worked in Chelsea’s flower district, just blocks from the two banks he robbed this month, the sources said.
Charges against Pemberton are pending.
Cops believe he first struck July 8, when he waltzed into a Capital One branch on W. 23rd St. near Ninth Ave.
Carrying a potted plant, he set it down on the counter and displayed a note that demanded the teller hand over his $50 and $100 bills, police said.
When the teller took too long to comply, the bandit reached over and snatched more than $2,000, police said.
A week later, cops say, Pemberton struck at the Bank of Smithtown on Seventh Ave., this time toting a bouquet of flowers wrapped in pink tissue paper and plastic.
His image was captured clearly on a bank’s surveillance camera as he made off with $440 in a bundle with a dye pack. Pemberton then ditched his flowers and fled.
