Baltimore Police Officer Airlifted After Driver Rams Police Cars

Baltimore County police are investigating what led to an incident in which a stolen vehicle plowed into a police car, injuring an officer.

The incident began in Pikesville shortly after 4 p.m. Monday along Reisterstown Road near Sudbrook Lane.

Police told 11 News that the officer was trying to stop the stolen car when the driver hit the officer and his police car. Authorities said the officer fired two shots at the driver, but he wasn’t injured.

The officer was injured during the incident, Sky Team 11 Capt. Roy Taylor said. He said the officer was flown to Shock Trauma with injuries to his head and leg.

There’s no word if anyone else was injured.

Taylor said police were able to apprehend the driver in a golf course not far from the crash scene.

Meanwhile, the northbound and southbound lanes of Reisterstown Road are shut down for about a quarter of a mile in that area as the investigation continues.
