New York – The state comptroller’s office has nearly $10 billion in unclaimed funds and is looking for the rightful owners.
The comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds is holding several events around the state this month to help people check to see if they’re owed any money from an unclaimed tax refund, forgotten bank account, insurance claim, or utility rebate.
Or, you can go online and check for yourself at www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf. The Office of Unclaimed Funds has a simple search feature on its website where you just enter your name.
More than 23 million accounts have funds that have gone unclaimed. Most are for small amounts, with about 40 percent worth less than $50 and about half valued at $100 or less.

somehow I doubt there are too many haimishe on this list.
#1-I’m ‘Heimish’ and I am on the list 4 times! Albeit for small amounts in a neighborhood bank where I once worked some 35 years ago.
Besides checking your name, check your wifes’ maiden name and those ‘Bar’ mitzvah accounts of your children (who by now have children of their own).
