Motorists are advised that the State Department of Transportation will be conducting lane closures on Route 17 eastbound and westbound between Exit 119 (Route 302) and Exit 116 (Route 17K) for road reconstruction.
Beginning oday, and continuing through the fall season motorists should expect brief traffic stoppages in both directions for rock blasting after 10 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the law, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.

What a shock! Once again after having all of fall, winter and most of spring to do this work they begin right at the beginning of the summer season.
Amazing just in time for the Summer
1&2,
Contrary to what you think this isnt “just in time for the summer.” There is an ongoing construction project in place over most of what you refer to as Route 17 and what others are calling the Future I-86 as there are many parts of the road that need upgrading before it can become part of the Interstate system. For example, in the area north/west of Liberty going to Roscoe there is lots of work going on to move the highway to the south in order to do away with at grade intersections. As far as most of the work on this road is concerned, there really isnt much time they could do it as it is quite cold & snowy out there much of the winter and very much into the spring.
GREAT TIMING!!!!!!!
I suppose, avi732 and Hocker411, that in your estimation the road repairs should have been done in the depths of what was probably the worst winter for decades.
Any suggestions to get around it?
