Galei Yisrael Radio reports that in a latest propaganda move, Hamas has released a fabricated interview with IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, in which he speaks of his past, where he was born and educated, stating that his captors are treating him well and that he is healthy and in good spirits. These officials say is a new level of cynicism following the recent Hamas production depicting Gilad in an IDF uniform, sending a message to his family.
In the Falasteen interview, Shalit explains that he was injured in the terror attack in which he was taken hostage but nursed back to health, explaining the soldier responded in Hebrew and his remarks were translated for the Arabic audience.
Officials in the Free Gilad campaign preferred not to respond to the latest Hamas psychological tactic, preferring to call on Hamas to concern itself with its prisoners and to move ahead with a deal to bring them home and have Gilad released before he reached his fourth anniversary in captivity. Shimshon Liebman released another appeal to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to make the difficult decision required to close a deal with Hamas and return Shalit home.
