Wow! hope everyone will be ok…I grew up with Harry’s … what used to be called Harry’s Grocery… I mean this was pretty much the only place to purchase your groceries, this and of course Katz’s Bakery, Grocery, etc. on J long before Wolf’s Supermarket and (later) Shop Smart came to town… Either you got your milk, bread and eggs at Harry’s or had it delivered to your door along with Sova donuts…your shul was a living room or a somebody’s cellar, (basement is incorrect term)… my neighbors got seltzer delivered on a truck and the knife sharpening guy came around time to time..memories
How long ago did Wolf’s open? I live one block away from Harry’s. Wolf’s was already open when I arrived, about 28 years ago!
I still remember Katz’z bakery. It was a tiny grocery too. I guess that was because he was there before Wolf’s opened.
BTW – what time of day did this holdup happen?
