Many people reading this have either gotten married themselves or married off their children. No one argues the point that the costs for a wedding are enormous. Take those costs, cut down a little because this wedding is in Israel, then think how could you try to pull off the expenses when there is no money to be found.

Joe and Janis are in this situation. Their daughter is getting married in one month and they still do not know how to pay for their sevenths child’s wedding.

Here is some history. Janis is originally from Winnipeg, Canada. Joe is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. 38 years ago, after becoming religious (and for Joe, more religious), they got married and made Aliyah. They gave it all up to raise a big, beautiful, religious family in the Holy Land! They gave up a car, a house, normal salaries and most important, being close to their families.

These two non-conventional artists joined one of the major Chasidic​ dynasties, but never abandoned their love for the arts and fun! A truly unique and beyond special couple, there is no such thing as going to them for Shabbat and walking away not changed for the better.

Janis works (at least) three jobs, all holy-oriented employments, and Yossi is a scribe. They have been though so much in their lives while raising their ten children with more stories than one could only dream of.

They have given their children everything they need through the years whether it was emotional or medical support. One of their sons is autistic and Joe taught this son how to be a scribe like himself and even with his disability, at age 28, this son is half way through writing a Sefer Torah!

They are about to make their 7th wedding in March, less than a year after their last daughter got married, thank G-d. ​After years of struggling to keep up with each child’s wedding, this time, there is really no where to turn financially. Their Rabbi has given them a Bracha that they will be successful by reaching out to the masses through the Chesed Fund.
