Fur Ban Bill Expected to Pass – Shtreimals Excluded

shtre.jpgThe Ministerial Law Committee next week is expected to discuss a bill that would ban the sale of fur and fur products in Israel. Violating the law would carry a six-month prison term and/or a fine. There is a clause in the bill excluding items worn or used for religious tradition, hence shtreimals would not be included in the ban.

Other exclusions include using fur products for scientific research and fur from cattle, sheep and camels. Over two-dozen opposition and coalition MKs have signed supporting the bill.

  1. Why the Ministerial Law Committee discuss banning abortions in Israel first? It never fails to see that all these animal “lovers” care less about human life.

  2. #1 These animal “lovers” are really screwed. They’re the ones protesting Trump’s ban on murdering babies and his ban on bringing terrorists into the US to murder Americans. And for some Jews on this site to join them or understand them is even more sick.

  3. What about banning “euthanasia” related organ transplantation? The organs are taken from breathing living people who themselves cannot do without their own organs!!!!
    The craziness is immense!

Now what about leather shoes, jackets and gloves?-they had fur on them too!!

Just make sure the slaughter of animals is non-cruel and you can wear a fur, there is no shame.

  4. With all respect, if they are going to ban furs for moral and ethical reasons, they should ban ALL furs, including שטרײמלעך‎ . There is nothing in Halacha that mandates wearing lvush of 16th and 17th century Russian and Polish nobility. If the style of headwear is important, there are numerous feaux fur . שטרײמלעך‎

  5. Banning tefillin??(fur was there originally)
    What is happening??

The climate change people have run wild!
Pollution is a concern, yes, but climate is made by Hashem!!!

  6. Well said Gadolhadorah. At the very least it does not look good for the Charedi community. The issue is ma’aras Ayin should be a consideration as well as the peer pressure to spent 1000’s on the real thing instead of imitation. That together with sheitels adds crippling costs to a Chasuna for those who already need to go collecting to marry off their children . We need some Gedolim to come out and say so and put a stop to thissay
