Who ever thought that losing weight and getting into shape could be so rewarding and fun?
Jewish music superstar and Toronto native, Shlomo Simcha, together with the Cohen brothers, have produced a music video which answers that very question.
Through Chai Lifeline Canada’s Team Lifeline initiative, Meir and Moshe Cohen, two entrepreneurial brothers from Toronto behind Team Cohen, have been raising funds for over the past 7 years in support of children living with grave illnesses. Their latest and most surprising recruit to their team of runners in the 2017 Miami Marathon: Shlomo Simcha.
Making reference to their beverage supply company Cambrian Springs based in Toronto, Meir Cohen commented: “The day we stop thinking out of the box is the day our business is no longer at the forefront of our industry. Recruiting Shlomo Simcha to train and run with our team in the marathon to help us raise funds and awareness for such an important organization was an out-of-the-box idea which has already proven successful.”
“The music video, released this week, already has close to 20,000 views and has raised awareness and funds, and has attracted additional runners that we otherwise would never have been able to reach,” said Rabbi Mordechai Rothman, Executive Director of Chai Lifeline Canada.
“When I was approached by the Cohen brothers to participate, I immediately assumed they were asking me to do what I do best — sing!” exclaimed Shlomo Simcha. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think they would get me training and running every day to prepare for a 13 mile run!”
Shlomo Simcha was one of the very first supporters of Chai Lifeline Canada when they first opened their doors to Canadian families just 10 years ago, and has availed himself, whenever asked, to volunteer his talents to entertain children and families that the organization services. His decision to join Team Cohen and train for a marathon in support of the children and families of Chai Lifeline Canada was the icing on the cake … which he no longer indulges in.
“If I can run, anyone can!” proudly exclaimed the singer, who has been spotted by friends and fans throughout the Toronto community running up and down Bathurst Street over the past few months.
“It’s all about the children,” says Rabbi Mordechai Rothman, a close friend of Shlomo Simcha. “The impact the runners have on our programs and families is unrivalled.”
While Toronto has been dealing with frigid temperatures, much warmth has been brought to the children and families of Chai Lifeline Canada through the efforts and enthusiasm of Team Cohen’s runners.
