Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman in consultation with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has decided to extend the tenure of IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott. In line with the norm, the IDF serves a four-year term and that term is generally extended for a fifth year.

The decision will be brought to the cabinet at the weekly meeting on Sunday, 24 Teves.
