Coalition and opposition MKs are working to oust Arab Bloc MK Basel Ghattas, who is on bail after being arrested for passing cellular telephones and components to imprisoned Arab terrorists.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit announced an indictment is going to be filed against Ghattas, leading to calls to oust him from Knesset. In addition to coalition parties supporting the move, the Yesh Atid opposition party is also backing it. The Machane Tzioni opposition party announced members will have their choice on how to vote, opting not to impose party discipline on the matter.

Minister (Likud) Ze’ev Elkin is spearheading the move, which requires 70 signatures in addition to his. Should he succeed in obtaining the required number, the matter will then move to Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, and he gives it to the Knesset House Committee. If two-thirds of the committee backs the move, then he will be ousted from Knesset.
