As YWN reported early Tuesday morning, “Cellular Israel” was hacked, and the names and credit card info of hundreds of customers was spread around the world.
Cellular Israel CEO Yisroel Meir Biegeleisen told YWN that the company “hired additional employees specifically to contact each and every customer who had not already informed us that they had cancelled their cards and had them contact their bank to cancel and monitor their cards”.
YWN does not dispute that the company hired additional employees to try and contact everyone. But the fact is that in just the past few hours, YWN has been inundated with emails, phone calls and other forms of messaging from customers of Cellular Israel. All of those we have spoken to state that their personal information was on the list that went viral last night and that they had never been contacted by anyone at the company.
Additionally, in an email from Cellular Israel sent to their customers they state “It is important to note that the posted information is outdated and unusable, and that all of the credit cards have long been cancelled”.
According to the people who contacted YWN, this is blatantly false. Many of them had their active credit card numbers on the list that went public. In fact, one woman stated that the number is still working as of this minute. She was in the process of calling American Express to have her card cancelled.
Many people had fraud on their cards in recent months and had cancelled their cards. One person YWN spoke to says they had a $30,000 charge on their credit card last month.
Many others were in the process of cancelling their cards.
Please call your credit card company and take appropriate action to ensure that you do not become a victim of credit card fraud or identity theft.

I am sorry but it is absolutely shameful and unacceptable to post such negative, accusatory content against a heimishe yid and his company. Lashon Hara is a very serious sin, even more so on such a public forum. Have you consulted a rav before posting such name smearing content? I suggest you remove this immediately or least edit it to more informational and not so hateful as it is a serious achrayus to you and everyone who reads it.

I actually personally know YM Biegeleisen. When I was once called to recommend him, I replied based on myself knowing him personally.

To print Loshon Hara without at least checking whoever is writing in to bring proof of himself being scammed on his cc thanks to what happened is not responsible, Motzei Shem Ra and probably much worse than that.
You can damage his parnossa which he works very hard in to be an ehrliche Yiid, based on some whatsapp stories and emails without proof, and then you call it “Yeshiva World” so it has a Hechsher.
If someone was damaged at least first check out details, with proof before printing stories. And maybe ask the other side if they have any defense first.

For your info, I do not work for cellular Israel, never used them in my life, and does not them at all.
#4, and #5, since you claim to be such experts in Lashon Harah, are you well versed in the halachos? Do you know that all because there is a litoeles in publishing certain things there is not a free pass to post anything and everything. The halachos are very complicated and every word needs to be measured when dealing with an another yid and his parnossah.
How do you know the facts? How can you claim with such assurance who is the “mazik” over here?
I happen to agree with you that it might be ltoeles to post updates and factual information regarding how costumers can help themselves but it is a BIG difference to trash, and post negative after negative descriptions about a fellow yid.
