The one-day warning strike held by Egged in Jerusalem on Wednesday, 6 Teves, will be quite costly. It is going to be fined NIS 14 million for failing to comply with the terms of its operating license.
Transportation Ministry officials add that in addition, during recent months there has been a decline in the company’s service around the country, particularly in Jerusalem. Ministry officials learned that 6% of all trips, amounting to 7.8 were not services, once again in violation of its operating license. In Jerusalem alone, the company failed to carry out 2.6 million rides as commuters were compelled to wait for buses that never came. Ministry officials began realizing Egged was cutting corners and a probe was launched.
As a result, the ministry is going to hold back NIS 9 million in state subsidies while holding back an additional NIS 50 million for failing to comply with its contract to service lines that were ignored.

” 6% of all trips, amounting to 7.8 were not services,”
Can someone please explain what the above means?
True comedy. The striking workers blame the government as the reason they took action. More or less it paralyzed the city for a day.
7.8 million trips.
