The Knesset Law Committee on Sunday, 25 Kislev, approved a bill banning spam phone calls and messaging to phones. A company must obtain the consent prior to sending messages or calls. The bill is initiated by MK Uri Maklev, Yaakov Asher and Moshe Gafne of Yahadut Hatorah.

The wording of the bill also covers money making scams that include and automatic dialer ringing a phone and hanging up. This causes many to call back and this costs the caller and earns a profit for the person behind the call. The bill addresses many possibilities in the hope of improving on a current law that does not address current technological possibilities.
