SHOCK VIDEO: NYC Sanitation Employees Throw Trash All Over Parked Car In Williamsburg While Smiling About It And Causing Damage

san[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

It seems that some NYC employees are turning into some of the laziest people around.

Yesterday it was officers from the NYPD’s 66 Precinct that ignored calls to check on an elderly woman – who ended up nearly dying. Today it’s personnel from NYC Sanitation Department.

In a video given to YWN, the viewer can see the utter carelessness and total disregard for private property by two employees doing a garbage collection shift in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

The owner of the vehicle tells YWN that he parked his vehicle in a legal parking spot on Bedford Avenue between Penn Street and Rutledge Avenue on Monday night. But when he arrived at his car on Tuesday morning, he was shocked to see his his entire vehicle covered in garbage – with the hood and front bumper of his car all scratched up. Thankfully, the person has a dash-cam which records at all times, and what he saw was simply shocking.

Two Sanitation employees are seen picking up garbage that was placed on the curb for pickup, but instead of carrying the bags to the truck, they throw them to each other. Many of the bags are seen bouncing off the mans car – and shockingly they are seem smiling and laughing as they do this.

The owner of the vehicle is hoping that Sanitation will not only reimburse him for his damages, but that these two careless individuals will be reprimanded and that action will be taken to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

While the Jewish Community is grateful for the work that Sanitation provides – including extra pick-ups before Pesach and other peak times, this behavior is nothing less then appalling and must be immediately dealt with.

  1. there is a great amount of chutzpa going on with garbage pick up that is another reason why they gave in to picking garbage in middle of the night in some areas so noone sees the mess that they make & leave over.

  2. Whilst I am trying to recover from the “SHOCK” …
First of all this is in front of PUPA Beis Hamedresh this morning, the pile of garbage was pretty big – Commercial (Not so Shocking).
Secondly, with absolutely no room between cars to cross in to the street (somewhat shocking), I can understand them throwing the bags (not shocking).
Third, Correct me if I am wrong, I think it would have been Mentshlich and Considerate to take in account when parking so tight, (Both, the car in front also) that you’re blocking the Sanitation guys!.
Fourth, you claim “But when he arrived at his car on Tuesday morning, he was “shocked” to see his his “entire” vehicle covered in garbage” – Huh? The evidence?…nothing supporting that in the video .. (That’s shocking!)
Finally, If someone is to make a fuss and a buzz over this, and a potential Chilul Hashem, i would find that to be Truly Shocking!
In the meantime, although we of-course always park legal, let’s also try and park like Mentshen, being considerate and Mentshlich to other people in town, especially the people whom we want to collect our garbage. Maybe then we won’t be shocked so much!
    A Freylichen Doughnut!

  3. Base salary for a NYC sanitation worker after 5-1/2 years is around $70K. Plus they can get away with stuff like this. Makes me wonder why I’m not a garbage man.

  4. This is very shocking – sad state of our ‘liberals’ – This has probably been going on forever just now they got caught

  5. While the person whose car was damaged should be reimbursed, let’s also realize that “throwing bags” to each other especially when collecting garbage from in front of multi-family dwellings is common practice. I have seen this many times near where I live. However, must sanitation workers are not as careless as to throwing the bags onto a car.

  6. Our tax dollars hard at work. Don’t call DeBlasio though. He’s busy making sure all the gender neutral restrooms are in order and no straight man is discriminating.

  7. While that parking spot was legal, how did the driver expect the sanitation workers to get those countless garbage bags into their truck!

  8. One employee is standing by the back of the garbage truck throwing the bags in and the second one [the man of color] is throwing the bags to him. Seems quite a sensible way to work. I don’t see the one at the back of the truck smiling and laughing. The black man is smiling a bit but we all know they naturally smile a lot. The video certainly does not give the impression that they are having a party. The man of color is throwing the bags on to the front of the car but I really don’t see that the other one is doing anything wrong at all. Read the story again and look at the video again and understand why when this is posted on the Internet, people hate us.

  9. Stop sticking up for these lazy city workers I live on a block where garbage pick up is on Shabbos & I see a difference from in middle of the week because they know on Shabbos I can do anything so they just leave over a big mess.

  10. I see nothing wrong other than the car with the dashcam is parked right up against the car in front leaving the sanitation workers no alternative other than throwing the bags over the car. Throwing the bags is common practice. There is no excuse for any building other than a large apartment building or a school having so many bags of trash.
If there’s catering done in the building it’s required that the management use a commercial hauler.
If there are any Yeshiva World readers that are envious of the NYC Sanitation workers, they too make take the test for which only a high school diploma is needed. I’m sure that accommodations can be made for Shabbos, but they must load tons of trash 5 days a week in extreme heat and extreme cold even with snow and ice and rain.

  11. Using the word “shock” to describe too many videos where, within admittedly subjective terms, is not “shocking” can have a “crying wolf” effect over time.

  12. Don’t Jews have their own police force? Should get your own garbage pick up as well. especially with 40 of you living in one house,7 garbage pails filled to the maximum plus you bring your garbage home from work so you don’t have to pay for removal. But sanitation men are lazy 46 bags in 1:46 while no bag was ripped dealing with your [expletive removed] neighborhoods traffic yeshiva forbid you don’t get to “temple” on time with your pillows

Moderators Response: See, here is an anti-semite who wants to hide behind a screename and spew his hate towards Jews. His email address is [email protected]

  13. To yossellegoylem,

I have no idea how on earth you can justify throwing bags of garbage onto a parked car.

YWN: Personally I think the article is a bit over the top. We have no right to tell them to carry the bags to the truck, let them do as they’re told by their superiors. However, there is no justification for damaging or even potentially damaging private property!

And finally- the last post is truly from a filthy vile anti-semite who truly is spewing venom BUT I don’t see any justification to release someone’s e-mail address. It seems to be a widespread tactic you use at your convenience. It is highly inappropriate.

  14. #3:
I’ll bet that you would also attribute all the several-blocks-long trails of garbage bags left along the CENTER of many streets in BP and Sunset Park to the tight parking in front of Pupa.

  15. The author of this article, and most of the posters, seem not to have watched the video. Commenter no. 3 is right about what he saw and what the video does not show. The video shows 2 men doing a hard job, the way they are supposed to.

    And where is the laughter?
