The Union of Local Authorities, which represents local governments around the country, has announced it is launching a strike that will begin on Wednesday morning, 21 Kislev. The strike is the union’s response to the new state budget, which is reported to contain a 5.75% cut for local governments.
The union stated it will not permit cutting NIS 250 million from disadvantaged municipalities, adding “If the treasury does not back down on the decision, an open-ended strike will begin on Wednesday morning. This will bring all local government services to a total halt”.
In line with the letter sent by the union, the strike is set to begin on Wednesday morning at 6:00AM.
