The family of 61-year-old Yitzchak Klein z”l, of Ariel, is calling on state officials to assist them in bringing his body home from South Africa for kvura in Israel. Klein was killed, a real estate agent and sports enthusiast, was killed in a parachute accident in South Africa last Thursday, 15 Kislev, but S. African officials have yet to sign the necessary paperwork to permit flying his body home for kvura.
The next El Al flight that could take the body leaves on Thursday, 22 Kislev and the niftar’s wife and three children fear he will not be on the flight either if someone high up does not intervene.
The chevra kadisha in South Africa is reportedly in touch with Israeli consular officials in that country, seeking to assist. Efforts to date have not succeeded in expediting the matter. It is reported that Friday was a local South African holiday and offices were closed on Saturday and Sunday too, giving a ray of hope that ongoing efforts will succeed in having the body placed on Thursday’s flight.
