In a related matter, members of an IDF reserve duty medical unit sent an urgent message to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott asking to be activated under emergency Tzav-8 orders to permit them to begin treating victims of the ongoing massacre in Syria. They wish to establish field hospitals as well as admitting victims to Israeli hospitals where possible.

Reserve duty Lt.-Colonel Erez Eshel used Facebook to get his urgent message out. “Is it not only proper that we organize 1,000 combat reservist officers to go to the Prime Minister’s Office during a cabinet meeting and tell them: ‘Mr. prime minister, we are ready to go to war, now in Syria; we are ready to kill and be killed, just to stop the slaughter of women and children taking place there now.”

Lt.-Colonel Eshel reportedly maintains good ties with elected officials in the Likud and Bayit Yehudi parties.
