New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has been fined over $47,000 for violating spending rules during his 2013 mayoral campaign.
The city’s Campaign Finance Board announced the fines on Thursday.
Among the fines was a $550 makeup bill for his whole family on Election Night.
His campaigned argued it was necessary in the “age of television,” but the board noted that no grooming expenses are allowed under campaign finance laws.
De Blasio was also fined for a trip to Washington, D.C. with his son Dante for the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
The mayor unsuccessfully argued it should be picked up because it “makes visible the candidate’s life experience as a credential for public office,” similar to using the family in TV ads.

Oh come on. This is obviously a libelous smear campaign by those evil white deplorable bigoted racist Republicans who are only attacking DeBlasio because his wife and Dante are black! I would hope that Obama can pressure Loretta Lynch to arrest the entire Campaign Board for hate crimes! This is all happening to the poor downtrodden DeBlasio family because Trump stole the election with the help of his close friend, Vladimir Putin, and due to his inflammatory racist hateful rhetoric, this backlash is a natural outcome. I hope that the Clinton Camp can threaten enough delegates to cast their vote for Hillary and then we can be done with these evil white folks once and for all. I just can’t wait to pay my share of reparations.
