For the 170 talmidim attending the Bnei Avreichim Sephardi talmid torah in N’vei Yaakov, things are literally looking brighter as generators were brought in to provide electricity.

The generators were arranged by Shas party leader Aryeh Deri and Jerusalem Councilman (Shas) Tzvika Cohen, who is responsible for the city’s chareidi education. The talmid torah is involved in an ongoing dispute with the Kaminetz Talmid Torah in the northern Jerusalem community, as they share a building.

The children have been learning in the dark and cold as their electricity was shut off, blaming Kaminetz. The latter denies any culpability. Deri moved in and made good on his promise, which he made during a recent visit to the school, to see to it that it gets hooked to electricity.
