MK (Yesh Atid) Elazar Stern lashed out against Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita in Knesset for canceling a psak permitting an agunah, adding “HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L is turning over in his grave over what he has done to agunos”.
Minister of Religious Services David Azoulai got up and called on Stern to retract his offensive statements against the Rishon L’Tzion.
The Shas party released a harsh statement against Stern: “He is impertinent and insolent. Remove your shoes from your feet as you gape as Maran Rishon L’Tzion. What do you understand from halacha and dayanus? You are light years away from the world of true halacha. We strongly protest against your behavior and humiliating things you said from the Knesset podium”.
Shas adds “We call on anyone who feels the kovod of the rabbonus is important to speak out”.
