Gov. Chris Christie says it was a “dumb move” when New Jersey voters rejected a referendum to expand casino gambling to northern New Jersey.
The Republican governor spoke Tuesday while co-hosting the “Boomer and Carton” program on New York radio station WFAN.
New Jersey voters last month overwhelmingly rejected a ballot question about authorizing two new casinos in counties near New York City. Christie blamed lobbying efforts by casinos and unions in Atlantic City and New York.
Christie says he believes casino gambling will eventually expand out of Atlantic City, where some gambling and business executives feared new in-state competition could have caused the closure of some of the city’s remaining casinos.
Christie also says he thinks the state will have sports gambling next year at Monmouth Park in Oceanport.

Maybe they are simply afraid of road congestion, ehm.
It is a fitting end to the Christie administration that he should insult voters for their choice on the expansion of gambling in New Jersey. He has insulted voters so many times during his tenure – e.g., failing, until the money for highways ran out, to raise gasoline taxes, refusing to build a rail tunnel between New Jersey and New York – that one of his last acts (actually, he has another year to serve) should be to insult voters for their decision about gambling. Their worst decision, when you get right down to it, was electing him in the first place.
I don’t know the merits of the proposal that the voters rejected – there was little coverage of the proposal in the newspapers, and the only TV ads on the subject opposed more gambling. But the issue under New Jersey law is left to the voters. They have spoken, and the politicians should accept their decision, or at least shut up.
Christie, you failed in evry way of your political life! You have the lowest approval rate of any sitting governor, you flopped on your presidential bid, and then you thought you would be Vice President and we’re dumped them you were dumber from attorney general, and chucked from transition team. I think you should sit back and relax with your mouth shut!!
A dumb move is not going on a diet, when your physicians insist on it.
THAT is a bad gamble, speaking of those casinos.
