The Shin Bet is concerned for the safety of Bayit Yehudi party leader Minister Naftali Bennet due his role in recent events to save the Shomron community of Amona.
In line with intelligence assessments, security around the minister has been significantly increased, around-the-clock, based on messages that have been circulating via WhatsApp expressing opposition to the agreement that will prevent uprooting Amona. Opponents feel the agreement is simply temporary and buying time and the community will be uprooted again at a future date.
Walla News correspondent Tal Shalev reports on Tuesday, 13 Kislev, that Bennet visited a Ramle school on Tuesday and he arrived in an armored vehicle with two guards. The Minister of Education does not usually travel in such a vehicle or with bodyguards.
The Walla report states the Shin Bet is concerned over messages that have been sent to thousands of right-wing Jewish activists opposing the Amona agreement, blaming Bennet for their disappointment and calling for a protest outside his Ra’anana home. They exclaim “This is going to be exactly like Kfar Maimon – but this time we take it to the end”, signaling they plan to vigorously oppose the plan which is credited to Bennet.
