Workers in the Chareidi Education Division in Jerusalem City Hall have launched a boycott of the division leader, Itamar Bar-Ezer. They have put the word out, for all employees under Bar-Ezer to stop cooperating with him and not to contact him for any reason.
One should realize this does not effect a few individuals for the division, which is instrumental to the city’s chareidi community, includes forty employees who are responsible for chareidi education and funding. Bar-Ezer is also a veteran in the post and is viewed a wielding considerable power and authority in City Hall.
However, in recent years, there have been complaints from employees about inappropriate reference from him, and at times, workers demanded he be sacked from his post. Now, a city workers’ union has ordered employees not to cooperate with him in any way and those who violate the directive will be punished. Workers complain he does what he wishes when he wishes, feeling he answers to no one. The straw that broke the camel’s back was an incident which occurred this week. Bar-Ezer reportedly shouted at an employee publicly for watching toeiva movies instead of working while it was known to all no such incident occurred. This prompted the union to take action against him.
