Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid spoke to Israel Channel 2’s Meet the Press on motzei Shabbos, explaining that he views himself as the only viable alternative to unseat Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. It was a recent poll that was commissioned by Channel 2 that predicted Lapid would earn 25 seats if elections were held today, the same as Likud.

Lapid, a seasoned TV host, told Meet the Press that the polls, which continue to show increasing support for Yesh Atid, are changing nothing for him as far as his actions, for he remains humbled by the numbers; continuing to work hard to earn the respect of voters. He did however acknowledge he is the only one who has been catching up to Likud and he is the only person who can unseat Mr. Netanyahu and his Likud party from the country’s leadership.

He spoke of the need to unite the nation. When asked to comment on the fact that both Shas leader Aryeh Deri and Yahadut Hatorah’s Yaakov Litzman repeatedly stated they would not work with him, Lapid remains calm and speaks of how politicians simply “cheat voters” by promising one thing and simply not delivering, something he would not so.
