In conjunction with the Town of Ramapo and Interstate Waste Services, Community Outreach Center has launched a “Keep our Community Clean” Initiative.
The reviews on Community Outreach Center’s recycling program, which has been running for the past two years, have been overwhelmingly positive. In the wake of that success, COC is taking their task of improving the quality of life for Ramapo residents to the next level.
COC representatives say that they often receive calls and letters about garbage issues. The law requires that residents bring their garbage cans to the curbside the night before their scheduled garbage pickup, and then return them to the sides of their houses once the garbage is picked up. However, some residents fail to follow the law and leave their garbage cans at the curb throughout the week. This leads to unpleasant garbage spills and decreases the quality of life of Monsey residents. These violations can also lead to fines and court summonses.
COC is aiming to educate Monsey residents about this important law in an effort to help residents avoid court summonses and to help make Monsey a cleaner, more pleasant town for all residents. Clean streets are an important element of a town’s image and quality of life, and with this simple change, which does not require a lot of work; Monsey can be made a more beautiful and pleasant place.
“Keeping Ramapo clean has always been a priority of mine,” said Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence. “I’m excited to launch this initiative in conjunction with Community Outreach Center to make Ramapo a more pleasant place to live and visit.”
Rabbi Hersh Horowitz, Executive Director of Community Outreach Center, said, “This campaign will create a great Kiddush Hashem, and we’re hopeful that the community will respond and participate enthusiastically.”
Since launching the Let’s Keep our Community Clean initiative on November 2, 2016, Community Outreach Center has received enormous positive feedback from local residents. All ideas and suggestions submitted are being carefully reviewed and implemented where applicable. Community Outreach Center greatly values and appreciates the overwhelming response!
