Nine Belgian horses arrived in Israel on Thursday, 8 Kislev and they will soon be serving in their new assignments in Israel Police.
The process of screening and selecting the horses among dozens was carried out by a professional police delegation which included the commander of the cavalry unit, a senior retired veterinary expert as well as members of the Israel Police Operations Division.
The physical condition of the horses were examined along with fitness and behavioral traits, which are necessary for training and performance in the field.
The horses will now undergo six months of training and upon completion, they will join 55 horses already operating in the force engaged in a variety of tasks including searches for missing people, riot control and public events.
