Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his coalition have offered Amona residents to relocate about 80 meters from their current site and they would be relocated to another position on the same mountain, taking advantage of the Abandoned Land Act. However, it is now reported by legal experts that the Yesh Din organization has already filed papers on behalf of Palestinian land owners, who claim property rights to two of the three plots offered to Amona residents.
According to a Channel 2 Israel News report, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is opposed to the Prime Minister’s plan because he is aware of the Yesh Din lawsuit. The news report added that legal experts are currently examining the legalities of the situation in the hope of finding a solution. In the interim, the Amona residents have rejected this deal along with a few other proposals.
According to the original plan, the residents of Amona would move close by, to an area that is 13 dunam instead of the current area of 400 dunams. Another problem with this plan is the new community would have 31 houses but the current community if 40 families, not to mention the fact the new area lacks space for public buildings, daycare and a shul for example.
A Ynet report questions the suitability of the plan, citing in the new area, the areas of land are not connected to one another as is the case in the current Amona.
Amona residents respond to the report, explaining it is now clearer than ever the government does not really have a viable plan to relocate and rebuild the community. In the coalition, there are growing fears as the High Court of Justice’s 25 December deadline for destroying the community is rapidly approaching and in a few short weeks the international community will once again see mounted and commando police standing up against unarmed civilians.
Nether Bennet or Netanyahu wish to see a repeat of the bloodshed that accompanied the first eviction from Amona on February 1, 2006. Much blood was spilled in that operation and the coalition, which is right-wing, does not wish to be associated with a repeat situation. The first evacuation was also due to a High Court ruling.

So pass laws to CHANGE THE SUPREME COURT!!Israel doesn’t have a constitution so the Knesset can “regulate” who and what the Supreme Court is.It’s present composition of Anti-israel,anti-religious far-leftists is totally unacceptable to the majority of Israel.Who ever heard of any court accepting someone’s claim of land ownership on their word without a single title or proof??
