About three weeks ago, the High Court of Justice announced the date for the deadline of the removal of Amona would remain December 25, 2016, rejecting a state request for additional time. The state was seeking a number months to permit reaching a solution with residents.
On Sunday morning 4 Kislev Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the Likud faction that he plans to turn to the High Court once again, seeking an additional 30 days to work out the Amona issue.
According to the Haaretz report, the Prime Minister will explain to the court the 30 days are required to permit the state to prepare alternative housing for residents close to the community’s current location. He adds ongoing efforts to push through the Regulation Bill will not result in a solution for the Amona problem even if it is passed. The first reading of the Regulation Bill is Knesset is scheduled for Monday, 5 Kislev.
