The Rev. Al Sharpton said Thursday that President-elect Donald Trump “surprised” him with a phone call — out of the blue.
“We did talk briefly,” Sharpton told The New York Post. “I was surprised and candid about our sharp disagreements, and so was he.”
The two have been on different sides of the issues since the 1980s and the election hasn’t changed a thing, Sharpton said.
“We were straight up with each other,” Sharpton said. “I will continue to disagree with him. I’m not psychoanalyzing why he called. He and I were clear on our positions.”
A Hillary Clinton supporter, Sharpton bitterly attacked Trump during the presidential campaign.
“He met with Mayor de Blasio, who is critical, like I am, of him,” he said.
Sharpton added Trump thanked him for complimenting some of his business achievements while on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program earlier Thursday.

Smart move. As they are always telling us; you make peace with your enemies not your friends. He also showed himself as a sharp negotiator by call the President of Taiwan. It shook up the Mainland Chinese and let them know he is willing to play hard ball.
Why is trump talking to such a thug?He wants nothing but riot, he is maybe fooling himself even that in not sure?He should be arrested for cheering all the riots and all the cops that were shot, he has blood on his hands and this is who trump calls?
Sharpton is a very ill-mannered 🤒 person. He’s not the representative the African American people. I am shocked Trump called him even. He is just a gangster on the street that loves to ignite frictions and disagreements between law enforcement and its citizens in the name of the AA people. With the audacity to call himself Reverend!
