The following is the official NYPD statement given to YWN regarding the tragedy in Williamsburg which took the life of 21-year-old Moshe Yehuda Viner Z”L.

On Thursday, December 01, 2016 at approximately 1112 hours police responded to the corner of South 10th Street and Kent Ave for a 911 call of a pedestrian struck within the confines of the 90 Precinct. Upon arrival officers were informed that a 21 year-old male was struck by the rear wheels of a tractor trailer that was traveling north-bound on Kent Ave, approaching South 10th Street. EMS responded and transported the pedestrian to Beth Israel Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver remained at the scene. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
