The fires ended about a week ago but for some Beit Meir residents, they are still without a place to live. These residents were too close to the warehouses storing asbestos and they were instructed to evacuate their homes.
According to an Israel Radio Reshet Bet report, these families are simply left without a place to live because of the hazards involved with being in proximity to the asbestos.
There are some families who were told my Ministry of Environmental Affairs agents they may return home despite the dangers involved in being in that area. Some 60 talmidim from the community’s talmid torah are at home for they have not attended classes this week due to the fire.
