Shaare Zedek Medical Center on Wednesday 29 Cheshvan announced the development of the new Helmsley Neurological Center allowing the hospital to further strengthen its position in treating terror and other seriously wounded patients who are triaged to a trauma center, as well as stroke patients and those suffering from other types of neurological trauma. As a result of the new Center, Shaare Zedek will be considered as a Trauma One Center – a distinction which will directly benefit the emergency response infrastructure for the greater Jerusalem area.

The new Center, composed of diagnostic, treatment and research elements is made possible through a five million dollar grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.
