An MDA Update as Fires Burn Out of Control in Haifa and Elsewhere [Updated 12:40PM IL]

Six persons have been transported to Rambam Medical Center with light smoke inhalation injuries. Other patients are being treated in a number of areas in Haifa.

Fifteen ambulances and advanced life support paramedic units are preparing to evacuate the Fliman Geriatric Hospital in Haifa if fire commanders give the word. They are in constant contact with the Health Ministry and IDF Homefront Command.

Heller reports MDA has treated and transported 35 patients suffering from smoke inhalation since the fires began earlier this week. B’chasdei Hashem there has been no loss of life and the injuries are minor.

Kibbutzim are announcing they are opening their doors to victims from Haifa, Zichron Yaakov, Gilon Nataf, the Binyamin area of the Shomron, Modi’in area and anyone who cannot return home due to fires.

Deputy Director of the Kibbutz Movement, Gil Line, has put the word out, instructing kibbutzim to prepare to take in the homeless. The phone number for information is 03-692-5331.

12:40PM IL: Channel 2 News reports that 35 fire victims have been transported to hospitals in Haifa by ambulance and private vehicle.
