Two New York City police officers seen on video punching a 16-year-old suspect in the face have been acquitted of assault charges by a Brooklyn judge.
The New York Post reports Wednesday David Afanador and Tryrone Isaac embraced following the week-long, non-jury trial.
The officers faced assault and other charges stemming from Kaheem Tribble’s 2014 arrest for drug possession.
Security footage of the incident shows one of the officers apparently striking Tribble in the face. Another officer can be seen lunging at Tribble with his gun drawn. The teen testified the weapon hit him in the mouth, breaking two of his teeth.
The officers declined to comment to the Post outside court Tuesday. They’ve been on modified duty since the incident.
Tribble wasn’t in court for the verdict.
