VIDEO: Jerusalem Court Approves Plea-Bargain Agreement; Rabbi Berland Admits Actions In Court; Sentenced To 18 Months

berland[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

The Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday accepted a final plea bargain agreement in the case of Rabbi Eliezer Berland. The case has been going on for years as the rabbi fled Israel in 2012 and was the subject of an extradition request as he fled from continent to continent. He was turned over to Israel Police a number of months ago by South African Authorities.

The rabbi admitted to his actions in court Tuesday, expressing remorse for harming anyone, “men or women, male or female”. In line with the agreement, he will be sentenced to 18 months in prison but will be credited for time served, which began when he was taken into custody in July 2016.

The rabbi showed appreciation to the court for the light sentence in comparison to the executions that took place two thousand years ago, saying back in Biblical days he would have been stoned or burned to death while today, leniency is shown.

In the video below one can see the Rabbi Berland’s chassidim around the van carrying him to and from court back to prison. At some point police became nervous, fearing the chassidim were going to try to pull him from the vehicle by force.

  1. This mode al hoemes statement is great! I I think it gives a little comfort for victims even though the sentence is too little, and abuse has loooong paaaainfull side efects. But the statement was clear about his wrongdoing while many don’t ever admit. He still has the big court in shomaym. Victims: we feel for you. Please get a lot of therapy at several stages of our life! I wish everyone opens mouth to all kinds of advantage takers in manny communities. Unfortunately so many abusers go to grave w ith zero months of jail. Time for all of us to do tshuva specially by helping peopke who feel abused or even just bulied when they complain.

  2. I never understood how Christianity started I could not believe how people were mislead and begin to believe in a yoshka
but after following this story it’s starting to make some sense in my mind how a bunch of ignorant brainwashed imbeciles can run after this person after he alone admitted to his sins.

  3. At least he didn’t induce his idiotic followers to drink Koolaid.
Don’t worry, they will carry him on their shoulders when he will be released, and explain that he had to undergo some transformation before continuing his holy mission.

  4. #1 כלל ישראל?! Does this sect of, עזי פנים, have any שייכות to anybody of כלל ישראל outside of their confused bubble?!

  5. yomama, that’s a quote from xtian bible.

I hope the victims, including r”l a 14 year old girl manage to repair themselves and more on.
