Preparations continue in Hebron to host Shabbos Chayei Sara, which is expected to bring tens of thousands to the area during the days before Shabbos as well as for Shabbos itself. This year, the event will be held in cooperation with the Women in Green organization.
Many of those who will actually spend the Shabbos in Hebron are visitors from abroad, some making the trip especially for the unique Shabbos of unity in the City of the Avos and Imaos. The entire Machpelah is open for that Shabbos exclusively to Jews, adding to the special atmosphere that accompanies the annual event.
This year the Hebron Jewish community will mark the beginning of the jubilee year of its liberation with special programing focused on increased Israeli sovereignty over areas of Eretz Yisrael, which will be presented in cooperation with Women in Green. The Hebron Beis Chabad undertakes the cost of the seduos Shabbos for all of the city’s guests.
