Study Links Neuropathy To Dust From World Trade Center Debris

9111Doctors on Long Island said Tuesday that they have linked yet another illness to World Trade Center dust.

WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell reports that retired NYPD Detective Kenny Anderson first noticed tingling in his feet more than two years ago. Now, he has agonizing pain.

Anderson has neuropathy. A new study at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola links the illness to World Trade Center dust.

“We believe firmly that neuropathy is related, but the problem is it’s not covered right now,” said Dr. Marc Wilkenfeld, Chief of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the hospital and an author of the study.

Wilkenfeld said the World Trade Center health problem should begin covering the illness.
