Violent Response To Erev Shabbos Closure Of Kever Rochel


mishtaraPolice on Friday night the eve of 11 Cheshvan arrested two chareidim who were taking part in violent protests on Derech Chevron in the capital.

According to reports, several dozen chareidim were angered when they learned Kever Rochel was closed on Friday night, the yahrzeit. They became unruly as they made their way back to the city and threw rocks at motorists on Derech Chevron.

When police arrived, they explained their anger over the closing of the holy area on the yahrzeit, 11 Cheshvan which was on Shabbos.

B’chasdei Hashem there are no reports of drivers being hurt in the rock-throwing attacks.

  1. Why do you have to call these irresponsible people “Chareidim”? Overwhelming majority of people who call themselves chareidim would never throw stones at cars on Shabbos. More so, why do you feel the need to write “B’chasdei Hashem there are no reports of drivers being hurt in the rock-throwing attacks” These people were violating a d’oraysa which is punishable by sekila. Throwing rocks at them is not the way to influence them to become better and we certainly don’t want harm to come to any Yid, but we don’t have to thank Hashem that no harm came to people driving on Shabbos. We can just say BH no Jews were hurt.
