Trump Adviser Says Israeli Settlements Not Obstacle to Peace

yoshA top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump says his boss doesn’t think Israeli settlements should be condemned and they don’t pose an “obstacle to peace.”

Jason Greenblatt’s comments to Israel’s Army Radio Thursday would mark a stark departure from the long-time American stance that settlement construction makes it more difficult to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians.

Greenblatt is the chief legal officer and executive vice president at the Trump Organization. He has been tapped by Trump as his top adviser on Israel.

Israel and the U.S. are close allies but relations were often tense between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, mainly over Israel’s policies toward the Palestinians. Netanyahu and Trump are friendly and ties are expected to improve.

  1. Susan Rice and John Kerry will be thrown out very soon and Newt Gingrich and John Bolton will replace them. Hopefully things will improve dramatically. Let’s hope the Israeli government doesn’t blow it.

  2. It’s good to know that a Trump administration does not thing Israeli settlements are an obstacle to peace. I look forward to a peace treaty between the US and Israel.

  3. Settlements are people living in a land…. is Abu Diis, Shufat in Jerusalem – Arab Settlements also an obstacle for peace?!? Finally a president with a brain will be fighting the Arab leaning State Department for the next 4 years.
