Avraham Stern, the Kaminetz Yeshiva talmid arrested for failing to report to an IDF draft center was released due to the efforts of Yahadut Hatorah MK Moshe Gafne.

The talmid was arrested on erev Shabbos and spent Shabbos in IDF Prison 4. He was released on Monday, 6 Cheshvan, ahead of the ten days he was ordered to serve.

Rosh Yeshivas Kaminetz HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Sheiner turned to Gafne for assistance. Gafne took the matter to the Chief of IDF Personnel Branch Major-General Chaggai Tupolinsky, who agreed to assist, signing the release papers on Monday morning.

Members of the Yerushalmi faction of the litvish community, those who follow HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita responded to the early release, insisting this is another proof that the nationwide protests seen on Sunday night do indeed help in such cases. Yerushalmi branch officials also announced that the protests planned for Monday afternoon and evening have been canceled since the talmid has been released.
