Amona residents were surprised on Sunday when members of the left-wing Meretz faction of Knesset arrived in their community.

Party leader Zahava Gal-On stated “We are now in Amona. An organized robbery of private Palestinian land by the government which is doing all it can to prevent the eviction of the residents”.

Meretz and Peace Now activists plan to monitor the situation towards making sure the families are removed as per the High Court of Justice ruling. They decry the actions of the current administration, accusing the coalition of assisting in defying the High Court by seeking a way to prevent removing Amona residents.

The High Court has ruled Amona must be evacuated and dismantled by December 25, 2016.

The party MKs during their visit echoed one another’s voices, that they will not permit the residents and government to find a way to defy the court and remain on “stolen Palestinian lands” as they put it.
