Using his state visit to Moscow, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan is seeking to influence officials to oppose a PA (Palestinian Authority) effort to join Interpol. Israel’s Foreign Ministry is also working to contact ally nations to oppose the move, explaining Interpol is an important organization that should not be politicized, and this is exactly what the PA is doing.

PA media reports state Ramallah has begun the process and is in the midst of talks towards being accepted by Interpol. The vote on the PA request is set to take place at the organization’s 85th General Assembly to be held in Indonesia next week.
