The Ministerial Law Committee on Sunday, 28 Tishrei, approved a bill that enjoys widespread backing, seeking to add a mandatory internet filter to unwanted content. The bill, sponsored by MK (Bayit Leumi) Shuli Muallem, will compel internet providers to set service default to block highly inappropriate and violent sites and these sites can only be made available if and when a client requests access.
As reported earlier by YWN-ISRAEL, the bill enjoys support from all major parties. The new reality will compel internet suppliers to change the default setting to blocking this unwanted content as opposed to today, permitting access to all until one decides to install filtering services.
